Obituary for Earl Garfield Heyerdahl

Earl Garfield Heyerdahl born September 25, 1926 entered heaven July 11, 2019.
Earl Garfield Heyerdahl was born on September 25, 1926 to Garfield and Ruth Heyerdahl. Earl married his high school sweetheart, Carol Swanson in 1948 after he served his country in the Navy during World War II. They raised their three children and two Golden Retrievers in Minnetonka where the Heyerdahls were members of the Minnetonka Lutheran Church.
Earl successfully enjoyed his business profession with Verti-Flo and Gerber Industries making many lifelong friendships. Travel for business and for pleasure took Earl and Carol to the Scandinavian countries, Europe, Canada, the Caribbean, the continental United States, Alaska, and Hawaii. Earl and Carol were also huge fans of the Vikings with 40-yard line season tickets for years!
After 52 years in the home they built in Minnetonka, Earl and Carol moved to Lake Minnetonka Shores Presbyterian Homes in 2011. Earl enjoyed morning coffee with many of his friends at Pres. Homes and played bridge often!
Earl was preceded in death by his parents and wife Carol.
He is survived by sons Jim (Carrie) and Steve (Jan) and daughter Karen Kenney (Patrick). Further survived by 7 grandchildren, Nikki (Jeff) Nute, Jodie (Broc) Coen, Derek (Danielle) Heyerdahl, Aren (Becky) Heyerdahl, Christine (Mike) Mortenson, Paul (Stephanie) Heyerdahl, Kayla Kenney, and 12 great grandchildren. Also survived by sisters- and brothers-in-law Therine Haines, Charles and Toodie Swanson, Donald and Dorothy Swanson, Bud Nordstrom, many nieces and nephews, and his friends at Lake Minnetonka Shores.

Celebration of life will be July 22 at 5:30 in the Chapel at Lake Minnetonka Shores Presbyterian Homes, 4515 Shoreline Drive with visitation starting at 4:30.
