Obituary

McDougall, Robert W. died suddenly June 3rd as a result of a fall while gardening. Born 31 January 1930 in East Saint Louis, Illinois to Wallace C. McDougall and Evalyn M. Tubbesing. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Holly; a daughter, Kristen McDougall (Rod Mackenzie); sons Jay McDougall (Cindy) and Andrew McDougall (Tracie); grandchildren, Max McDougall, Molly McDougall, Evie Mackenzie and Drew McDougall. Upon graduation from Iowa State University he went on to serve in the USMC (1953-1955) where he achieved the rank of Captain. Beginning with successful sales positions in the packaging industry he hit his stride when he became "The Personification" of Minnetonka State Bank in Excelsior. From earning Eagle Scout in his youth and continuing throughout his life he accepted the calls to lead and serve; Rotary President, Mayor of Shorewood, member of the Hennepin County Welfare Board, Youth Hockey Coach, and West Metro political party chair. Bob has been recognized as WCCO's Person of the Week and Excelsior's Person of the Year. His volunteer work also included gardening at the MN Landscape Arboretum for almost 20 years. Both the Basilica of St. Mary and Trinity Episcopal Church held special places in his life. Bob was an avid reader, a crossword puzzler, an outdoorsman, a sportsman, a storyteller extraordinaire, a baker and a cook. Whatever the endeavor he took it all the way. This was best seen in his unwavering and unconditional loyalty and love for his family and his friends. To the marine, the husband, the son, the grandpa, the father, the friend and the mentor, thank you for showing us what it means to love so deeply. Memorial service Monday June 10th at 2:00 pm, visitation at 1 pm at The Basilica of St. Mary, 1600 Hennepin Avenue, Minneapolis. Memorials suggested to St. Vincent de Paul.
